I’m Jess—former molecular biologist and current medical writer who swapped lab coats for muck boots. What began with a few backyard chickens has grown into a diverse homestead full of chickens, ducks, goats, pigs, sheep, and more. Through trial, error, and a whole lot of research, I realized most farm advice doesn’t account for climate. That’s why I created FarmZONES™, to help others raise animals the smart way: by region, season, and science.
FarmZONES™ aims to offer simple, science-backed tools and guides for smarter animal keeping. This site was created in May of 2025, and is consistently being updated with an initial focus on everyone's favorite gateway animal—chickens! From our free HenZONES™ tips and tricks articles, perfect brooder tool, chick health diagnostic quiz, and educational guides (coming soon!), everything we share is made to save you time, money, and frustration—no fluff, just farm-tested resources. Once we share our expert, vet-backed chicken rearing and keeping advice, we will switch gears to other farm favorites, including goats (GoatZONES™), ducks (DuckZONES™), and more!
